ECND focuses on a different theme each year, based on EONS’ strategic priorities – it is all about recognising and celebrating the positive impact that cancer nurses have on the quality of cancer care across Europe.
Our theme this year is SAFETY – for cancer patients and for nurses.
A series of activities took place to mark ECND2019 from 16-18 May, with the main focus being on the 18th when the EONS Safety Manifesto was launched. (The Manifesto will also be subsequently available in translation.)
EONS National Societies celebrated cancer nursing in their own countries and highlighting the safety theme.
The main activities:
In Prague:
- 16 MAY – The EONS Board Meeting
- 17 MAY – A roundtable discussion – ‘How to achieve cancer nursing specialty education in the Czech Republic’, featuring high-profile speakers from the world of politics and cancer nursing.
- 18 MAY – The launch of the EONS Safety Manifesto featuring key objectives and recommendations
Across Europe
- 18 MAY – ECND Campaign Splash! EONS members and National Societies across Europe celebrate with events and activities on the theme of safety. – A huge social media drive brings cancer nursing to the attention of the world, using the hashtag #ECND19Go4Safety
