Save the Date for World Day for Safety and Health at Work

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated every year on April 28. This is a global initiative by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and aims to stimulate dialogues on safety and health at work. This year, the ILO will take this opportunity to raise awareness and stimulate dialogue on the importance of creating and investing in resilient Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) systems, drawing on both regional and country examples in mitigating and preventing the Spread of COVID-19 at the workplace now and in the future. In the meantime, negotiations continue on the 4th revision of the Carcinogens and Mutagens at Work Directive (CMD) to eliminate cancer at work. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of protecting those who are on the frontline of our healthcare systems and EONS welcomes the amendments tabled by the CMD4 Shadow Rapporteurs on better protection for pregnant/breastfeeding women, systematic risk assessments by employers, ensuring the availability of personal protective equipment for employees and repeated training programmes for healthcare professionals.
