2016 PhD Research Workshop
18-20 May, University of Stirling, Scotland, UK
Facilitators: Mary Wells, Daniel Kelly, and Elisabeth Patiraki.
The first EONS Research Workshop for PhD students was designed for oncology nurses undertaking PhDs, at any stage of their doctoral studies. The aim of this three-day workshop was to offer doctoral students an opportunity to discuss, develop and share ideas, progress and European perspectives in relation to their doctoral research, within a supportive learning environment.
It was very successful; 20 participants from all over Europe presented their research and shared their experiences with expert facilitators Professor Mary Wells, Professor Daniel Kelly, and Professor Elisabeth Patiraki.
A mix of seminars, discussion and ‘shopping for advice’ sessions gave the participants plenty of time to network as well as to explore the practical, theoretical, methodological and ethical challenges of clinical research.
All the participants thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and found it an enriching experience. Many said that they left with renewed enthusiasm and confidence, as well as new collaborations and friendships.
