The European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) is seeking a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and invites applicants who have previous experience of leading a not-for-profit international organisation or association, of Belgium law and asbl* regulations, of working with nurses in a healthcare organisation and/or society and who is preferably from a nursing background. 

EONS is a pan-European, Brussels-based, not-for-profit membership organisation with a current membership of almost 28,000 cancer nurses from all over Europe: the largest group of healthcare workers in the cancer workforce. The COO will support European cancer nurses and the cancer nursing community in fulfilling their roles in cancer care and advancing cancer nursing across Europe in accordance with the EONS Strategic Plan.

The COO oversees the implementation of EONS’ strategic priorities and ensures the continued relevance to the membership of existing activities. The COO leads and manages the Brussels-based asbl, its secretariat and staff of five and reports directly to the EONS Board. Part of the COO’s duties are to ensure and support fundraising and advocacy work with a variety of key stakeholders and pharma companies and to develop mutually beneficial relationships with other organisations.

We are specifically interested in applicants who have a goal-orientated mindset, can manage conflicting demands effectively, have a strong sense of integrity, a positive attitude, are mission-driven and self-directed, and who have people-centred leadership qualities. 

Location: Brussels based; it is expected that the COO will work one day per week at the EONS office in Brussels.

Worktime: 30 hours a week over 4-5 days
